Group Workshops

  • Cardinal Movement workshops are between 1.5-3 hours in length. Each workshop begins with floorwork exercises as a way to awaken the body and to practice specific coordinations that will be used later in the class. On the floor, participants concentrate on movement elements and alignment through repetition of a series of short exercises. As the class builds, the elements are layered into more sequential movement ideas in the space. Following the floorwork section of the class, participants transition the ideas from the floor to standing exercises and partnerwork. Through dynamic across the floor sequences and jumping exercises, participants find new ways to connect information gathered on the floor in a new standing orientation while inhabiting and moving in space.

Individual Sessions

  • Individual Cardinal Movement Sessions are for those who wish to deepen their connection with their body and their understanding of movement. They are open for professionals from all fields (not limited to dancers or performing artists). Sessions include both a “hands on” as well as an exercise based approach - helping clients improve their coordination, connectivity, and enhancing their performance in many walks of life (posture, stability, flexibility, and strength).

    Assaf studied movement from childhood - karate, folk dance, ballet, modern, contemporary, contact, and therapy modalities. He served as an assistant to Ilan Lev and his method of teaching/therapy. Additionally, he studied cranial sacral under Shaily Feinberg. After his own experience with a serious back injury, Assaf became interested in anatomical principles that would help him recover. Through personal experience with his injury as well as prior studies of movement and therapy, Assaf developed Cardinal Movement, which has been helping dancers and professionals from around the world to improve their movement abilities and recover from injury.

le ballet fou summer intensive

Le Ballet Fou Summer Intensive August 17-21, 2026 will focus on the elaboration and refinement of the principles of Cardinal Movement (Partnering and Alignment Work) and the Repertoire of Le Ballet Fou.

Designed for those who have been following the work of Le Ballet Fou and for professionals that are interested and willing to explore the discipline in which we work.

Limited Capacity, priority will be given in the order in which applications are received. Early registration price $500 before July 21st. Regular registration $600.
